PRESIDENT'S BIOGRAPHY

Jo Mitchell has held various positions in the New Mexico Republican Party during the last 15 years. She is one of five vice chairs and previously served two terms as party chairman in Bernalillo County, the most populated in the state.

She is a member of the state Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission, which reviews performances of New Mexico judges and recommends whether they should be retained in their regular retention elections.

A former dietitian and hospital food service director, Jo has a master's degree in food service management from Oklahoma State University. She is married with two sons and three grandchildren.

"My most fun job was working with pilots on their food supplies during long distance gas balloon flights. It was particularly exciting to serve on the crew of the first successful transatlantic flight in 1978. I was in Paris when the balloon landed and can vouch for the fact that the French reputation for ceremony and celebration is well-deserved."

FEDERATION PROFILE

Established in 1939, the New Mexico Federation is divided into three regions and has 20 local clubs. Members raise money for Republican candidates, host forums and other events to educate the public, register voters, aid in disaster relief, and volunteer for literacy programs. Clubs participate in parades and other celebrations such as Flag Day and Constitution Day.
