Jeannine Long was elected NFRW secretary at the 34th Biennial Convention in Palm Springs and assumed the position in January 2008. In 2006-2007 she served as NFRW member-at-large.
In 1991 she first joined two Oklahoma City area Republican Women's Clubs; in 1992 she returned to Enid and joined the 56-member Garfield County Republican Women's Club. After serving in other elective positions, she was club president in 1995-1996 when it became the largest in Oklahoma at that time, with 189 members. She is currently club president of the newly organized First Capital Republican Women.
Long became an active member of the OFRW Board of Directors, serving in various offices and as state newsletter editor and vice president, before her election as State President in 2001 and reelection in 2003. The OFRW received the 2003 Betty Heitman State of Excellence Award and the 2005 State of Achievement Award.
Long was a member of the host committee for the 2004 Tribute to Laura Bush Luncheon in New York, served as 2004-2005 State Presidents' Coordinator, 2005 Nominating Committee Chair, and was a finalist for NFRW’s 2005 Ronald Reagan Leadership Award.
A grassroots campaign volunteer and member of the Executive Committee in her local party, Long served four years on the Oklahoma Republican Party Executive Committee, was a delegate to the 2004 Republican National Convention, and active in the 72-Hour Task Force. In 2004 she received the RNC President's Circle Award and the RNC Outstanding Team Leader award. In 2008 the Oklahoma Republican Party presented her with the Ronald Reagan Award. The award is given biannually to a Republican who has made a lasting impact through longtime service and continuing commitment to the Republican Party.
Long retired in 1997 from a 30-year career as a freelance court reporter. Genealogy is Long's hobby; she is a member of several lineage societies. She and her husband have seven children between them.
