Rae Lynne Chornenky

Rae Lynne Chornenky was elected NFRW 4th vice president at the 34th Biennial Convention in Palm Springs and assumed the position in January 2008.

Chornenky is proud to be a native of Phoenix, where she lives with her husband and daughter. A loyal Arizona State University alum, Chornenky earned a B.A., graduating magna cum laude; master’s degree in counseling, and J.D. all from ASU. She has practiced law for 25 years.

Chornenky retired from the superior court bench in 1995 and went on to serve as a legislative attorney for an Arizona cabinet-level agency, drafting extensive legislation and successfully lobbying state budget issues, laws, and regulatory acts. Her private legal practice has included advising non-profit organizations, representing political candidates and campaign organizations, coordinating seminars and workshops, serving as a speaker
on constitutional and political issues and the defense of individuals charged with crimes.

Experience on the Boards of Directors of the Junior League of Phoenix, Valley Leadership of Phoenix, the YWCA, the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section’s Editorial Board, the Arizona FRW and the NFRW has allowed Chornenky insight into creative ways in which the community’s needs may be met. Holding office in the parent organizations of her children’s schools and active participation in their sports and performance activities has increased her ability to achieve results outside of the realm of the “tried and true.”

As a Republican, Chornenky has been elected precinct committeeman and enjoys being active in state and local campaigns. She has been a member of the NFRW since 1994. She had the privilege of attending the 1995 NFRW biennial convention and, since that “beginning,” has continuously served on the NFRW Board of Directors, with the exception of one term. It has been her great honor to serve on, and learn from the incredible leaders of, the NFRW Membership Committee, the Program and Awards Committees and, for two terms, the Bylaws Committee.
